Why invest in Umag, Istria, Croatia?
The area of ??Umag was inhabited already in the Roman era. In the second half of the 8th century, Istria passed from Byzantine to Frankish rule. In 840, Istria was annexed to the Kingdom of Italy, in 952 it was included in the German Empire as part of the Marquis of Friuli, after 1209 the position of Istrian border count was held by the patriarch of Ogle. Since the 1970s, Istrian cities have felt the influence of Venice from time to time, but despite this, some still developed independently and formed their own administration and legislation. In the Middle Ages, Umag came under the authority of the diocese of Trieste, and in 1268 it had to accept the authority of Venice, which lasted until the collapse of the republic in 1797.

After the fall of Venice, Umag fell under Napoleon’s France for a short time and was initially part of Napoleon’s Kingdom of Italy, and from 1809, the Illyrian provinces.

After Napoleon’s defeat in Russia and finally at Waterloo, according to the provisions of the Congress of Vienna, Istria remained under Austrian suzerainty. Since then, Umag has belonged to the Austrian littoral, the land of Istria. With the disintegration of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy at the end of the First World War in 1918 and after the signing of the peace treaty in Rapallo in November 1920, the whole of Istria was annexed to the Kingdom of Italy, until its capitulation in 1934. Until the end of the Second World War, the Adriatic coast was part of the occupation operational zone (Adriatisches Küstenland) of the Wermacht, military units of the Third Reich. After the war, between 1945 and 1954, northern Istria was part of zone B of the Free Territory of Trieste.
Today, Umag is one of the flagships of tourism.

The only 18-hole golf course, the only Kempinski hotel in Croatia, 44 km of landscaped coastline, another 18-hole golf resort under construction, one of the prihh ACI marinas in the former Yugoslavia, the only world Atp tournament where the most important names in the history of tennis, such as Nadal, started playing , Ðokovic and many others, one of the most beautiful city parks and promenades by the sea in Croatia and much more.

In the next 5 years, Umag will surely be number one in tourism in the entire Republic of Croatia.
