They and a staff of 6 persons are onsite at all times. The language spoken in the home is English and Bahasa Indonesia. Pak Mel is a well-educated and well-informed native-English speaker, and his presence always serves as an excellent "bridge" between "east and west." Ibu Nana and Pak Mel genuinely enjoy entertaining foreign visitors. This is immediately apparent from the moment guests are greeted at Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. It is almost ironic that, in this opulent setting, guests find a truly social setting where they can interact as freely and as casually as they would in the humblest of homestays.
