Right on the edge of Campo Marzio, Roman Standard is in an enviable position among some of the smartest boutiques in Italy. It’s tucked under the eaves, so it’s worth noting that parts of the ceiling slope down and are therefore quite low. In the end though, this adds to the cosy feel of the whole place – there’s even a fireplace to keep you warm if you’re there during winter (it’s also there in summer, you’re just less likely to need it).

*There's no shower, only a bath
*Antonio might not be there to greet you personally, but self-check-in is easy enough
*The boiler is on display in bathroom
*It's seventy-seven steps up to the door of the apartment, with no lift
*The bins are at the bottom of the stairs, in the atrium to the building
*Some of the rooms are under the eaves so there are parts of the ceiling that are quite low
*Two people can sleep on a sofa bed in the living room
