When you wake up in the morning your toughest decision will be which balcony to drink your coffee on, or possibly whether to sunbathe on a sun lounger or in a hammock. Will the children tire themselves out in the wheelchair-accessible heated pool, the playground, or playing football on the mini footy field?

A lovely traditional stone kitchen makes cooking a breeze, but you might like to arrange for a private chef to cook for you anyway. Enjoy beautifully prepared Cretan dishes outside at the covered dining table – gluten-free meals can be provided on request. There’s also a fabulous barbecue area, so your chef could whip up a grilled feast while you and your guests sip cocktails on the terrace and admire the colourful sunsets.

You have everything you need right at your fingertips here, but if you do fancy exploring Crete, you’re in a great location for it. Almyrida beach is just ten minutes away by car, while the attractive old town of Chania is thirty-seven minutes away. Meander along the winding streets with an ice cream, or find an alfresco table at a charming taverna by the port. When you return to the villa, settle into the Jacuzzi for a soak and see which constellations you can spot in the twinkling night sky.

*For those with reduced mobility, there's a ground floor bedroom and bathroom here – both villas are wheelchair-accessible
