Just off one of the most historic streets in Whitby, with its own little outdoor space, this home is for those who like to be right in the heart of things. Surrounded by coffee shops, pubs, restaurants and boutiques, it's in a tucked-away spot, in a period building. But that's not to say there's anything old-fashioned about this place – freshly renovated with wood floors, all-white walls and contemporary furnishings. The open-layout living space has a sleek, modern kitchen area for cooking at home and there's a comfy sofa for evenings in.

Start your day with coffee on your little deck – a rarity in this part of town – before heading out to explore. The beach is just a few minutes' walk and you can reach the bottom of the 199 steps up to the abbey ruins in around twelve – how long it takes you to reach the top is another matter. While you're here, don't miss the famous fish and chips, the Captain Cook Museum and the Dracula Experience – they're all just steps away from your door.
*There are a few steps up to the entrance of the home – it has a private entrance off a communal passageway
*You'll have neighbours upstairs so you may hear them occasionally
*There's laptop-friendly workspace at the table
*Free on-street parking is provided but it's a couple of minutes away from the door
*Dogs are welcome – please let your host know at the time of booking
*The home's entrance can be hard to find as it's set back off the main street – look out for the sign to Staffordshire Place
*Babies are welcome but you'll need to bring a cot and highchair
